What Fair Wishlist keeps
As little as it can. There is no account to make and nothing to agree to; the site works without telling us who you are.
Your list
What you save, tick off and rate is stored in your phone's browser, on the phone. It does not leave the phone unless you do one of the two things below.
If you type in your email
The "keep your list" box emails you a link. We store the email address and the list, so the link can bring the list back on another phone. The address is the only thing we keep about you - no name, no phone number, no location - and it is used for that link and nothing else: no newsletter, no marketing, never sold or given to anyone. Email fairwishlist@gmail.com from that address and the address and the list are deleted.
If you share your list
"Share this list" puts a copy of the list on our server under a long random address, and anyone you give the address to can see it. It holds the list only - what you saved and what you have tried - not who you are. Remove it from the same place you shared it.
Location
"Sort by distance" and the map use your phone's location to work out what is near you. The phone does that arithmetic itself; your position is never sent to us or to anyone else, and the site does not ask for it until you tap something that needs it.
Counting visitors
We count how many different people open each fair each day, so we know which fairs are worth the work. The count uses a random number set in a cookie, stored as a one-way hash with the date and the fair - not your IP address, not your email, not which pages you looked at. There are no advertising trackers and no third-party analytics.
The phone apps
The Android and iPhone apps are the website in a frame. They keep nothing of their own, and everything above applies to them exactly as it does in a browser.
